How does it Work?
PilotShare is nothing more than a "relabeled" TreeShare. What this specifically means is that it runs thru the following steps:
Attempt to Acquire Lock in "pShare" (remote)
Create a "new" folder locally in "Palm\".
Copy "pShare\Media" to "Palm\new" (remote to local).
If "Palm\Media.saved" exists locally, Rename "Palm\Media.saved" to "Palm\2Del".
Rename local "Palm\Media" to "Palm\Media.saved".
Rename local "Palm\new" to "Palm\Media".
Launch Program (ussually "Palm\PALM.exe").
In the background, remove local "Palm\2Del" is it exists.
And when the program in step 7 ends:
Create a "new" remote folder in "pShare\".
Copy "Palm\Media" to "pShare\new" (local to remote).
If "pShare\Media.saved" exists remotely, Rename remote "pShare\Media.saved" to "pShare\2Del".
Rename remote "pShare\Media" to "pShare\Media.saved".
Rename remote "pShare\new" to "pShare\Media".
Release the Lock in "pShare" (remote)
Remove remote "pShare\2Del" if it exists.
Note: Please note the security requirements around all the Directory renames, removals, and creates; and all the file copying both locally and remotely. Also many (most?) versions of Windows will NOT allow a directory to be either renamed or removed if something is running from that directory, OR something running has a file OPEN in that directory. This is why the HotSync must be switched to manual mode, as it keeps files open.

Does it run on Win 95?
We have experienced no problems with Win 95.
Does it run on Win 98?
We have experienced no problems with Win 98.
Does it run on Win ME?
It "should" run on Win ME, but we have NOT tried it, and no one has informed us one way or the other.
Does it run on Win NT?
We have tested it on NT 4 & NT 5 with no problems. It "should" run on any version of Win NT, but we have NOT tried it, and no one has informed us one way or the other.
Does it run on Win 2K?
We have experienced no problems with Win 2K.
Does it run on Win XP?
While it should, I have been told that it does NOT. I didn't have a Win XP machine until recently, but the wonders of open source has let another developer (????) has been kind enough to not only discover what Microsoft changed, but to recommend specific source code changes. I hope to add XP support within a short while...
That's All Folks...
